Almost to the Finish Line

Image
Almost to the Finish Line  Through this journey, we have learned a tremendous amount of information that will continue to support us as we continue to design. We have learned about how to effectively analyze, design, develop, and implement, however, we have one last thing to discuss before we cross the finish line. The last step in the ADDIE model is to evaluate. According to Piskurich (2015), an individual evaluates their product for two reasons...      1. Someone else has asked you to evaluate what you designed.      2. You as the designer, are wanting to evaluate your product.  No matter what the reason for evaluating is, to determine what kind of evaluation you need to create to provide you or whoever is wanting the evaluation with the best data, you need to consider the three w's. You need to consider the why who and what.            Why : The purpose of evaluating.           W...

Fair Use

TechTeacher  October 15th, 2022 Fair Use  By: Brisa Willis  Fair Use:     To understand the concept of fair use, we must first understand what copyright means. When an individual creates something such as a drawing, music lyrics, a book, etc., they have legal rights to their creations. To ensure that others are not claiming someone else's work as their own, copyright laws have been implemented. Specific expectations, such as fair use, have been put in place to possibly prevent one from getting fined for copyrighting. If someone gets accused of copyright, they could defend themselves through fair use. What makes fair use complicated is that one has to go through a judge, who will then determine if what they were doing was copyrighting or was being used fairly. To determine if the use of the material was fair or copyrighted, four factors are taken into consideration ( Copyright | Columbia University in the City of New York, n.d.)...   The Purpose and Ch...

Are We There Yet?

Are We There Yet?      We've managed to make it this far in the ADDIE model process, however, we are not quite at our final destination. We are now in the implementation stage, which serves almost like a Yelp review. During the implementation stage of the ADDIE model, you are receiving feedback (reviews) according to Piskurich (2015),  from participants such as department managers, supervisors, trainers, trainees, and more. The type of participants you request to review your training will depend on whether you are carrying out a beta or pilot test.  While the purpose of both the beta and the pilot test is to review the current stance of your design and determine what are the strengths and areas of improvement, both types of tests are used for different purposes.  Beta Tests      Administrating a beta test is one of the first things one wants to do in the implementation stage because, during a beta test, the facilitator can receive feedb...

The Beginning, Middle, and End

The Beginning, Middle, and End  If you have a background in education, then chapter 5 will sound a little familiar, because the development stage of the ADDIE model is similar to creating a lesson plan. Both a lesson plan and the development stage require an outline to provide structure and organization, implementation of pre-activities as a way to capture the attention of learners, and post-activities to support retention. Chapter 5 emphasizes the beginning, middle, and end of the development stage, and also provides types of activities that can be executed.  The Beginning of Development:          One of the first things that an instructional designer needs to do before moving forward is select an outline. The purpose of an outline is the provide organization and structure to both the designer and facilitator, which sometimes could be the designer. There are three different outlines that an instructional designer can select from, and there is no ...

Magic Mirror on the Wall...

If only instructional design were as simple as looking into a mirror and saying "Magic Mirror on the wall, who is the fairest one of all, " to determine which delivery system would provide the best results. Unfortunately, there is no magic mirror that one can look at and ask which delivery system is "the fairest one of all", however, if you keep in mind the training... Needs  Tasks Skills Competencies  According to Piskurich (2015), then you can become one step closer to finding the most effective way to deliver your training. There are seven different delivery strategies that one can select from, however, depending on the needs, tasks, skills, and competencies, of who you are training, that will determine which one will be the most appropriate. The seven delivery methods are as followed...                         1. Instructor - Led Classrooms               ...
